Atwell International official statement
Testing and Certification of our VG Bi-Directional Drop Jaw Electronic Overspeed Governor is very nearly completed.
The current testing standard of governors allows for an accuracy of within 10% *(1). So far BSI witness testing has proven an inaccuracy of less than 1% *(2).
Currently, to our and BSI's knowledge, there is no other product like this on the market and therefore no benchmark has yet been set. It is this factor that has caused some unforeseeable delays, as current testing procedures cannot be directly applied to this product and as a result extra testing has been requested. As our highly valued customers, you will know that our reputation is based on accuracy and design excellence of the VG safety products. This is the foundation on which we have built our business, instilling trust and peace of mind in the knowledge that all our safety products are reliable and consistent.
To satisfy these additional testing requirements and to ensure this new product meets the highest level of standards and expectations for both quality and reliability, we have now commissioned an additional report and are entering the final phase. This will qualify the speed and load versatility and also prove a trip speed set at 120% of the nominal lift running speed can maintain accuracy within the 1% margin. Tripping speeds of our VG OSG can be from as slow as 0.1m/s to as fast as 8.5m/s and once this final report has been completed, certification will be granted. In the meantime we have started production and are looking forward to installing the first prototype at the beginning of February. Full production of VG OSG's will commence from the beginning of March 2011, with market availability from mid-March 2011.
