Welcome to Atwell International

A Worcester company that specialises in lift safety equipment is winning new business in countries as diverse as China and Australia, with help from UK Trade & Investment. 

Atwell International, of Ball Mill Top Business Park, Hallow, designs, manufactures and supplies standard and tailor made safety products for the lift industry. 

Established in 1996, Atwell International has five full-time and two part-time employees, and an annual turnover of approximately £2m. 

The company has been working with UK Trade & Investment for about five years to develop its export business, which currently makes up about 20 per cent of its total sales and is expected to grow significantly over the next financial year. 

It recently won two major contracts after showcasing its products at the industry's premier international exhibition in Germany, with financial support from UK Trade & Investment's Tradesfair Access Programme. 

Director and general manager Russell Walker said: "We have just completed a major project worth £80,000 for Shenzen Airport in China as part of the country's infrastructure building for the Beijing Olympics. 

"The work involved designing and manufacturing a downward acting safety gear with the capacity to stop the combined mass of the load plus the lift car totalling 24 tonnes. We were one of only two companies in the world that could fulfil these requirements".
